Nicholi & Jean-Rae
Italian Inspired Winter Wedding | Die Stoor
Driving to Moorreesburg on the wedding day, I looked at my assistant and shook my head. It was the worst storm we’ve had in a very long time! My windscreen wipers were in overdrive and it was COLD! We arrived at Die Stoor, a rustic barn wedding venue on a farm in Moorreesburg, where we were welcomed by the warmth of an Italian inspired reception.
It was breathtakingly beautiful & cozy with Sherry stands, lounge pockets, warm blankets, and scattered heaters. It was all adorned by naked bulbs, fairy lights, touches of Marsala linens & Orchids, and canopies of greenery hanging over the beautiful tablescapes.
Advice from the Bride
- Get enough sleep the night before. It’s a long day and you’ll need a good night’s sleep to carry you through.
- Don’t stress about the things you cannot change – like the weather in our case. It became all I thought about and in the end and I should’ve focused more on enjoying every moment. Even if a storm hits on the day, there’s nothing you can do about it, except enjoying yourself!
- Don’t try and take in every single small thing and moment. You will only overwhelm yourself. Focus on the big, important moments and take them in. The small details will be captured by your photographer and on video, so you’ll get the chance to see them afterward and it’ll be just as special.
Seeing Jean Rae the moment the chapel’s doors opened. In that moment all the stress and worries disappeared. Other than that, to see our guests enjoy themselves and having a great time at our reception was an awesome feeling!
What to do if you can’t take any couple photos?
This is probably every bride’s nightmare. It was freezing, the wind and rain weren’t backing down and the bride’s dress was soaking wet with a “mud ombre” effect at the bottom. This was less than ideal. We all decided that we weren’t going to do the couple shoot. Yes, you heard right. The service providers involved were all willing to offer up their time and skills at no extra costs to reschedule the couple shoot on a warmer. less wet, day.
So even if it is the “worst case scenario”, there is always a solution and it’s more important for you and your partner to enjoy the day. We ended up taking beautiful couple photos of them at Langverwacht, who were so kind to accommodate us.
